You may have heard that we had our race barn on the farm burn down on Monday, June 2. While we are dealing with the significant loss, we are thankful most of our race stable was at Running Aces (near Minneapolis) at the time. We are especially thankful to Cameron and Crystal for noticing the fire and helping save the rest of the buildings.
We got an early start on the season this year by deciding to participate in the opening season at Running Aces Harness Park, the new track near Minneapolis. On opening day, we managed a win and two 4th’s in 3 entries so that isn’t a bad start. You can follow the entries and results at http://www.ustrotting.com.
You may also note that Norman Glinz and Dale Lagerquist are now entrenched in history (at least as a trivia question answer) as the owner and trainer of Valentine Hotspur, the winner of the first ever race at Running Aces.
Things are pretty much falling into place for Christmas, with the concerts over with. We’re looking forward to visiting family during the Christmas season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our friends.
We’re currently busy with all the Christmas activities that accompany this time of year. We’ve also had horses in training for several weeks already (2 and 3 yr olds), but the recent cold weather is interfering with that a bit!
